Blaine, who still has a crush on Sam, spots him swiping macaroni from the cafeteria and offers money because he thinks Sam’s family is in financial trouble again, but Sam explains he actually uses macaroni for his portraits of celebrities and friends. The macaroni incident inspires Blaine to suggest to New Directions that they tackle the songs and groups that they’re embarrassed to admit they love. He and Sam kick things off by performing “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” by Wham! Brittany is trying to get Kitty to be part of the team, and she invites Kitty to her online chat show, Fondue for Two, during which Kitty diffidently whispers her secret shame to Brittany as Tina intently watches the show online. Incidentally, Brittany’s guilty pleasure is most (though not all) of the Bring It On movies.

Kurt has a guilty secret of his own: he bought a “boyfriend arm” pillow online and named it Bruce, and he wraps it around him while he sleeps. Sam makes another confession to Blaine: he secretly loves the music of Barry Manilow. Blaine encourages him to let the glee club know he’s a “Fanilow.” Tina, meanwhile, demands to know what Kitty’s secret shame is, and the cheerleader’s love of the Spice Girls is revealed. To Kitty’s surprise, the other glee club girls enjoy the Spice Girls too.

Kurt is trying to protect Rachel from finding out that Brody is a male escort until after her audition for the musical Funny Girl. Santana uses this knowledge to get him to make more space for her in their apartment. Rachel tells Santana that Brody didn’t give her a reason for their breakup, and when Santana convinces her to help with playing pranks on Kurt to try to cheer her up, they discover Kurt’s “boyfriend arm.” He refuses to loan it to them.

To proclaim that he’s a Fanilow, Sam sings “Copacabana” in a performance that prompts Artie, Ryder, and the other glee guys to acknowledge they’re Fanilows too. The glee girls choose their Spice Girls identities. Sam thinks Blaine should step up and expose the real secrets he’s hiding.

When Marley finds out from Tina that Jake intends to sing a Chris Brown song, she thinks it’s an insensitive choice because of Brown’s abusive history with Rihanna. Jake defends his decision to sing a Chris Brown song by saying that despite his disgust for the singer’s actions and persona, he really does like Chris Brown’s music.

While playing the piano, Blaine sings Phil Collins’ “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)” as an expression of his crush on Sam but claims to be singing about Kurt. Rachel reveals that she hopes to get back together with Brody, so Santana can’t help but tell her the truth, for her own good.

Marley poses as Posh, Brittany plays Sporty, Kitty is Ginger, Tina is Scary, and Unique is Baby in their Spice Girls act. They perform the Spice Girls’ debut song “Wannabe” and Artie observes that Kitty finally seems happy to be part of New Directions.

Jake decides on Bobby Brown instead of Chris Brown and sings “My Prerogative” then Kitty points out he evidently didn’t get the memo about Bobby Brown’s sordid history with Whitney Houston. Marley forgives his lapse in judgment because Jake is her guilty pleasure (along with the music of Jessica Simpson).

Rachel confronts Brody about how he hid the truth. He replies angrily that the bruises on his face are from Finn (who flew to New York just to beat up Brody), and he knows Rachel slept with Finn when she went home to Ohio for Mr. Schuester’s wedding. He insists everything he told her was true, and she admits that maybe she was using him to make Finn jealous and to ease her own heartache over Finn. They part ways, once and for all, to the tune of “Creep” by Radiohead.

After thanking Santana for all her efforts to protect her, Rachel feels she’s ready to move on. She also plays the “roommate pity” card, which lets her choose what they’ll watch for movie night, and picks Mamma Mia. This leads to a “Mamma Mia” fantasy number split between the roommates in New York and the glee club at McKinley. New Directions is all dressed up in appropriately over-the-top costumes, and Hula-Hoops are involved in the glee club’s ode to the original music video that ABBA made for the song.

Spoilers about upcoming episodes
Read at your own risk!

The members of New Directions tackle their guilty pleasures in music, the songs and groups that they’re embarrassed to admit they love.

The glee club girls are dressing up as that world-famous girl group, the Spice Girls. (But is anyone on the planet honestly still reluctant to admit they like the Spice Girls or their music? That’s a little hard to believe at this point.) Marley is posing as Posh Spice Victoria Beckham née Adams, Brittany is playing Sporty Spice Mel Chisholm, and Kitty gets to play Ginger Spice Geri Halliwell. That leaves Unique possibly to play Scary Spice Mel Brown and Tina or Sugar to play Baby Spice Emma Bunton. The Spice Girls’ debut song “Wannabe” is their guilty-pleasure choice, and they’ll tell us what they really, really want.

If what you want is to see how the girls look in their costumes, then you’re in luck. Kitty’s is shown on http://pic.twitter.com/HtgwPYRAyH while http://leschermarketingdev.com/glee/2874/ shows the Sporty Spice look modeled by Brittany, with bonus “Posh Spice” Marley since she happens to be standing next to Brittany in the photo.

On February 25, 2013, Glee executive producer MrRPMurphy posted a photo of Rachel and Brody at http://pic.twitter.com/L7nfqjrsie with the caption “Creep drama” and MsLeaMichele re-Tweeted it. That photo is evidence that Rachel may be operatically singing the Radiohead rock ballad “Creep.”

Is Rachel about to split up with her upperclassman lover, and is the fact that Rachel’s singing “Creep” an indication of their breakup? Brody has been doing some extracurricular activities because he is moonlighting as a male escort, and now that Santana has already found out his secret, Rachel will surely find out before long. What exactly will Rachel’s reaction be when she too finds out about Brody, and is a resolution to the Finn, Rachel and Brody triangle in sight at last? Will Rachel be “running out the door,” as stated in the lyrics of Radiohead’s song?

In an interview with TV Line, Ryan Murphy revealed at the PaleyFest Icon Award presentation in his honor that he always wanted to do Radiohead’s song “Creep” and Radiohead was quite agreeable because they said that when Glee had an appropriate story, they would talk about it. Apparently, Murphy found the right story arc in which to use the song, and he got the band’s approval.

Murphy further said that Lea Michele had to sing “Creep,” which is a hard song, for half a day. When Murphy was asked whether the scenes that required lots of crying from Rachel meant a resolution of the Finn-Rachel-Brody triangle, he answered, “Half of that will be resolved, yes.” He added with a laugh that he can’t get all of the Glee couples together, though everybody always wants him to, and that viewers have to wait until the finale of Glee, or maybe not that long.

As one would expect from the instigators of the guilty-pleasures assignment, Blaine and Sam get to perform some interesting songs. While playing the piano, Blaine performs “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)” by Phil Collins. You can see Blaine in front of his piano in this photo http://pic.twitter.com/OOiWc86bwQ where he has some dramatic lighting on him. He also sings with Sam for a duet of “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” by Wham! Ryan Murphy on March 1, 2013, posted a photo of Blaine and Sam (alias Blam, as some Gleeks like to call the little bromance between those two guys) http://pic.twitter.com/1zFdc9O8pK and hailed them as “the new Wham!” So is Blaine the equivalent of George Michael, making Sam the new Andrew Ridgeley? Murphy also referred to Marley and Brittany in http://pic.twitter.com/fp1ko5srO6 as “girl Wham!” Sam gets a solo too; he sings Barry Manilow’s “Copacabana.”

Jake sings Bobby Brown’s “My Prerogative.” Is Jake possibly going back to being a serial womanizer? The lyrics of Jake’s solo song seem as though they’re about that kind of guy, especially “They say I’m nasty, but I don’t give a damn / Getting girls is how I live” and “I see nothing wrong in spreading myself around.”

The closing number, which seems to be “Mamma Mia,” splits between the glee club at McKinley and the alumni in New York, which of course includes Kurt. New Directions is all dressed up in appropriately over-the-top costumes, and Hula-Hoops are involved in the glee club’s ode to the original music video that ABBA made for the song.

The all-new episode “Guilty Pleasures” is on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 9 p.m. (8 p.m. CST).

Finn’s frustration has him almost at the boiling point. It’s an unprecedented move in Glee when the New Directions force Will and Finn into a lesson. Blaine says that their feud needs to stop; they have to lead the glee club to Nationals. Artie tells them to resolve their differences by performing a song together, from some famed musical feuds.

Rachel is relieved she’s not pregnant; Santana wants her to think of the pregnancy scare as a wake-up call to take a deeper look at her life choices, especially her relationship with Brody, who secretly works as a paid escort. He performs Marina and the Diamonds’ “How to Be a Heartbreaker” on trysts with his clients, as Rachel considers how to deal with her feelings for him.

Coach Sue enforces a contract to bring Blaine back to the Cheerios, but he resists. Ryder has an online relationship with a mystery girl by the name of Katie_xoxo. He tells her Unique is angry with him for causing a rift between Marley and Jake that jeopardizes New Directions’ harmony. Ryder’s insistence that Unique is a guy is also not helpful. Katie suggests Ryder too should do a musical feud number with Unique.

Finn resists the feud lesson, so Will tells him he put Finn in charge of glee because he pitied Finn, whose life was falling apart, and then Finn betrayed his trust. He insists that Finn play along so he can kick Finn’s butt. Waging a reign of terror against Blaine, Sue prompts a feud-off between them. Sue will rip up Blaine’s Cheerios contract if he beats her in a showdown.

Marley convinces Jake she isn’t planning to leave him for Ryder, but she won’t give Ryder the cold shoulder either. Ryder and Unique’s showdown features “The Bitch Is Back / Dress You Up” by Elton John and Madonna respectively. Unique demands that Ryder concede she’s a girl before she will shake hands with him. Ryder refuses, and Jake reminds him that in the choir room, they are whatever they choose to be. Meanwhile, Sue Sylvester perfects the Nicki Minaj out-of-nowhere threat as she terrorizes Tina.

Santana confronts Brody at NYADA with a performance of “Cold Hearted” by Paula Abdul. She warns him to move out and stay away from Rachel.

Will and Finn’s respective teams perform “Bye Bye Bye / I Want It That Way” by *NSYNC then the Backstreet Boys, who were rival boy bands in the ’90s. The face-off helps them work out their anger, but Will’s not ready to reconcile. Finn understands and thanks Will for everything that Will has done for him.

Santana’s NYADA antics embarrass Kurt and Rachel. They’re also concerned about her threats to Brody and insist that she should dial back her shenanigans or move out. Santana explains that she loves them and can read people better than they do. When they keep insisting, she gives in and leaves.

Katie convinces Ryder that if he can be friends with her despite never having met her, then he can let Unique be whatever she wants to be. For the “I Still Believe / Super Bass” showdown, Blaine gives a Mariah-style interpretation of the Brenda K. Starr song as Sue leads the Minaj-ified Cheerios in their performance. Surprisingly, Sue is the clear winner in the showdown. Finn realizes he should not need Will’s approval so he can be a leader and teacher and seems convinced to get a teaching degree.

Ryder tries to make up with Marley, Jake, and Unique, who got taunted by mean girls while she was walking home in her Leslie Uggams outfit. The glee club promises to watch out for Unique’s safety (even Kitty, because she wants to secure the Nationals championship) and to uphold glee’s tradition of being all you believe you can be, even after the seniors graduate.

Sue makes Blaine the Cheerios’ co-captain with Becky. He’s secretly thrilled because he and Sam were planting Blaine on the inside to stop Sue’s terrorism before they graduate.

Brody answers an escort call only to discover that his client is Santana. She leaves him in the hotel room so Finn can confront him. Finn tells him to stay away from his future wife.

New Directions’ group performance of Tegan and Sara’s “Closer” showcases their renewed teamwork. Ryder asks Katie if they can meet, but she abruptly goes offline.

SPOILER ALERT:
Spoilers about upcoming episodes
Read at your own risk!

It’s an unprecedented move in glee club history when the New Directions students give their advisers Will Schuester and Finn Hudson an assignment to thrash out the strain between them after Will found out that Finn, who really should have known better, made a little move on Will’s intended bride Emma Pillsbury. Blaine says that the two are feuding and it needs to stop. Artie tells them to explore and resolve their differences by performing a song together.

The assignment, which is about epic musical feuds, appropriately involves the two adversaries performing the music of rival boy bands NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys, known as BSB for short. Will, flanked by Blaine and Jake, performs NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” with the whole marionette theme from the boy band’s old music video, then Finn, with Artie, Sam, and Ryder, makes an entrance to do BSB’s “I Want It That Way,” complete with boy-band moves worthy of the Backstreet Boys themselves. Back in the ’90s, the media pitted the Backstreet Boys against NSYNC. Will declares he will kick Finn’s something. Which of Finn’s body parts Will wants to attack is not named, because Will suddenly tries to slam Finn onto the floor. In the battle of Will and Finn’s teams to see who can be the best boy band, the winner takes all.

It looks like no one is safe from feuds this week. Ryder too has managed to get into a feud with—of all people—Unique, who apparently gives him a huge slap. The two are singing a mash-up of “The Bitch Is Back” by Elton John and “Dress You Up” by Madonna. The feud between Elton John and Madonna goes back to 2004 when, while onstage accepting an award, he accused her of lip-synching. Elton John was also offended on Lady Gaga’s behalf when Madonna performed what some perceived as a derisive mash-up of Gaga’s “Born This Way” with “Express Yourself” in May 2012; Lady Gaga happens to be the godmother of Elton John and David Furnish’s son. Anyway, back to Ryder and Unique’s feud, perhaps Unique is also angry about the kiss Ryder planted on Marley that consequently caused Marley to be somewhat confused between him and Jake. Maybe Unique is being protective of Marley, as her friend.

Santana, meanwhile, is increasingly suspicious of Brody’s job on the side. She already suspected him of being a drug dealer when she noticed that he had over a thousand dollars in cash along with a pager. Brody sings with Rachel in a number that features the song “How to Be a Heartbreaker” by Marina and the Diamonds. For her part, Santana sings “Cold Hearted” by Paula Abdul with some appropriate choreography from some obliging NYADA students who back her up. “I can destroy you,” she threatens Brody. “I know exactly what you are.”

Paula Abdul is not the only American Idol judge whose music the glee club uses this week. Blaine is also in a feud with Coach Sue, and the two of them will be the focal points of an “I Still Believe” and “Super Bass” mash-up. The two artists who sang those songs, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, famously feuded when they were both judges on American Idol.

Sue Sylvester wigs out with some frightful “Barbie Minaj” hair for the feud number with Blaine, who has a pesky blackmail problem he has to deal with. Sue gently reminds Young Burt Reynolds (as she likes to call Blaine) that he joined the Cheerios in December (for a day, when the glee club thought it was disbanding) but he’s been conspicuously absent from practice. She says he signed a legally binding contract that clearly states he will provide Cheerios duty at any and all pep rallies, assemblies, town meetings, state fairs, concerts, television programs, motion pictures, video games, Republican national conventions, etc. Blaine claims his alleged signature on the contract is a forgery.

The Cheerios’ regionals is fast approaching, and Sue needs a shiny, sexually nonthreatening gay to hoist up some of the most gorgeous girls in America over his head, have a birds’-eye view of their baby oven, and not even be remotely interested. Blaine politely declines because he’s just too busy with glee club and student council. Tina says if the Cheerios need her back, she could do it, but Sue has forgotten that she called Tina out of class and tells her to go find a new boyfriend; maybe Lance Bass (of NSYNC) or RuPaul is available. She threatens Blaine with consequences if he doesn’t do his Cheerio duties, and Becky punctuates the threat by hitting Blaine on the backside.

New Directions’ group performance for the week is the Tegan and Sara song “Closer.”

Get ready for World War Glee. The all-new episode “Feud” is about to break loose on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at 9 p.m. (8 p.m. CST).

Mr. Schue and his runaway bride Emma Pillsbury seemingly work things out because they look quite amiable together, dancing while singing “You’re All the World to Me” (from the Fred Astaire musical Royal Wedding), in old-fashioned black and white. They’re in black and white because Will is just dreaming. He was watching old movies to make himself feel better after Emma left him at the altar.

Will puts New Directions up to a group competition of girls vs. boys, singing songs from movies, in mash-up style. The winning group gets to star in the indie movie that Artie’s making.

Finn and Artie try to come up with a plan to track Emma down. Artie proposes a “lady manhunt,” but Finn tells him, “Ain’t nobody got time for that.” Blaine suggests that the boys and the girls work together for their opening number, at which point he and Brittany lead the segue into a “Shout” song-and-dance number. (This song was part of the movie Animal House and is Glee’s landmark five hundredth musical performance.)

Blaine also sings “Come What May” (from Baz Luhrmann’s musical film Moulin Rouge! of course) with Kurt, but this only happens in Kurt’s daydream while he’s watching movies because he’s stuck indoors on a snow day. In their New York City loft, Kurt is actually cooped up with his British guy from NYADA, Adam, and his roommates, Santana (who’s ill-humored) and Rachel (who’s morose).

Santana finds out that Brody has over a thousand dollars in cash and a pager, so she suggests to Rachel that he’s a drug dealer. She thinks the only people who carry that much cash around and have pagers must be drug dealers.

Wearing bad wigs because they’re trying to convince Emma’s parents that they’re part of a club fighting against ginger bullying, Artie and Finn surprisingly manage to convince them also to tell them where she is. For the competition, the glee boys, including Artie, Ryder, Sam, and Jake, perform “Old-Time Rock & Roll / Danger Zone” (from Risky Business and Top Gun respectively).

Marley and Unique lead the girls in singing “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend / Material Girl” (one from the Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell film musical Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and the other from Madonna). The winner of the competition turns out to be everyone, because apparently Artie needs a lot of people to be in his movie.

Will also sings “In Your Eyes” to Emma; this song of course is from the famous boom-box scene in Say Anything. Instead of just lifting a boom box outside her window, Will brought the glee club to back him up as he serenades her.

After the kids leave, Emma meets Will outside and explains to him that she ran away because when he came back to town, she felt like she didn’t know him anymore. They decide to get to know each other again.

Marley loves Jake but confides to Kitty that she enjoyed Ryder’s kiss too, so she’s confused. Later, Jake confesses to Marley that Valentine’s Week and the presents were Ryder’s idea, not his. He tries to make it up to her with a little recreation of the pottery-wheel scene from her favorite romantic movie, Ghost, and he sings “Unchained Melody” to her. Unfortunately, during the reenactment, Marley was thinking about Ryder, so she confesses to Jake that Ryder kissed her and she let him. Jake seems angry and disappointed, but he doesn’t say anything yet.

Finn has some confessing of his own to do, so he admits to Will that he kissed Emma. Emma has not yet told Will about it. Will is unsurprisingly disapproving that Finn told him about this only now, and he walks away from Finn. Thus, both Jake and Will find out that their respective best friends kissed their respective girls.

Santana, who saw Rachel’s pregnancy test in the trash, confronts her about it. Rachel breaks down in tears, which seems to point to Brody as the baby’s father. Could Quinn be showing up soon to give Rachel a piece of her mind about this pregnancy issue?

Artie, Sam, and Joe lead the glee kids in a performance of “Footloose” from the original movie musical of the same name.

Spoilers about upcoming episodes
Read at your own risk!

Everybody loves movies; they help us escape from our day-to-day anxieties, like getting left at the altar (as cheerleader Kitty brutally points out to a certain jilted glee club advisor). As everyone is getting over Mr. Schue and Emma Pillsbury’s non-wedding, the members of the glee club get an assignment to sing their favorite song from a movie. New Directions gets to do iconic musical numbers that you’ve seen on film.

Marley and Unique lead the girls in singing “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” from the Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell film musical Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, along with “Material Girl” by Madonna. The juxtaposition of these two songs is actually what Madonna herself did in the music video for “Material Girl.”

As for the boys, Ryder, Sam, and Jake get to do awesome sock slides just like Tom Cruise did when he danced around to “Old-Time Rock and Roll” in Risky Business. And just like Tom Cruise in that scene, they don’t have any pants on. The glee boys perform Bob Seger’s “Old-Time Rock and Roll” and Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone” (which is from another Tom Cruise movie, namely Top Gun), and their recreation of those movie movements is led by Sam and Blaine.

Jake gets a solo with The Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody,” which was used in the notorious pottery-wheel scene from the movie Ghost. Marley and Jake will possibly do a little reenactment of Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze’s pottery-wheel scene.

Though it looks like the girls and the boys are performing on separate teams for the film songs assignment, Blaine and Brittany will apparently be the lead performers for one of the musical numbers. They perform the Isley Brothers song “Shout,” which was used in the movie Animal House. Artie, Sam, and Joe, meanwhile, are the leads for a performance of “Footloose,” from the original movie musical of the same name.

Will and his runaway bride Emma seem to work things out because they look quite amiable together in a song number of their own, during which they perform in black and white to the tune of “You’re All the World to Me” from the musical Royal Wedding. Their performance pays homage to Fred Astaire’s remarkable “ceiling dance” in the movie. Burton Lane composed “You’re All the World to Me,” with lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner.

Will also sings Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” to Emma. This song of course is from John Cusack’s famous boom-box scene in Say Anything. Will is not raising a boom box outside her window, but he does have the glee club to back him up as he serenades her.

Meanwhile in New York City, Santana makes herself at home in the loft a little too quickly for Kurt and Rachel’s comfort because Santana apparently will be snooping around, running across some surprising secrets, and asking to be told about those secrets. Speaking of Kurt, he’s hanging out at the loft with his new NYADA guy but finds time to sing with Blaine for the duet “Come What May” from Baz Luhrmann’s musical film Moulin Rouge! The song is an interesting choice, though some people might understandably prefer Blaine and Kurt duets to be a bit more upbeat, the way they were when they sang “Just Can’t Get Enough” together, instead of heavy on the drama.

On February 25, 2013, MrRPMurphy posted a photo of Rachel and Brody at http://pic.twitter.com/L7nfqjrsie with the caption “Creep drama” and MsLeaMichele re-Tweeted it. That photo seems to indicate that Rachel may be operatically singing Radiohead’s rock ballad “Creep.”

Is Rachel about to split up with her upperclassman lover? Brody, by the way, was busy with extracurricular activities because he is possibly moonlighting as a male escort. Will there be a resolution to the Finn, Rachel, and Brody triangle? Here’s hoping the pregnancy scare that Rachel had is merely a false alarm, but perhaps also a wake-up call for Rachel that she should be more careful in her love life.

Also, the members of New Directions sing Glee’s landmark five hundredth musical performance in this episode. The five hundredth musical number is the crazy yet fun performance of the song “Shout.” In order to help celebrate the landmark performance, fans may want to go to http://fox.tv/XOXAUv to vote for their all-time favorite performances, from seasons 1 to 4. Don’t miss “Girls (and Boys) on Film” when it airs on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at a special time, 9:30 p.m. (8:30 p.m. CST).

Character Bio

Cassandra July is a nasty dance instructor at the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts (NYADA). She loves criticizing her students, constantly calling them silly names and insulting them. Her favorite student to pick on is Rachel.

During Tango class, she tells Rachel she doesn’t have sex appeal. The next day, the freshman student performs Britney Spears’s “Oops… I did it Again” to prove the teacher wrong. Cassandra criticizes her again, provoking Rachel to mention her embarrassing YouTube video. The video showed Cassandra throwing away an audience member’s cell phone when it rang during the Broadway production of “Damn Yankees.” Because of this, her Broadway career was destroyed and she got the nickname Crazy July.

When Cassandra overhears about Rachel’s plan to audition for a Broadway production, she discourages her and tells her she is not tough enough. Rachel persuades the instructor to audition to get her back in the game, but Cassandra changes the subject. The tough teacher shows her soft side when she advises Kurt and Rachel to go home and have closure with their respective boyfriends, offering her JetBlue frequent flyer miles.

Brody sleeps with Cassandra after Rachel goes home to Ohio and abandons their plans together. When Rachel calls Brody’s phone, Cassandra answers it and gloats about their night together.

Rachel gets invited to participate in the winter showcase and the pessimistic instructor dissuades her again, saying she is not ready. Rachel fights back and they have a diva-off of “All That Jazz” from the musical “Chicago.” Rachel admits Cassandra is the better dancer, but believes she is as good of a singer. Of course, Cassandra begs to disagree.

Actor Bio

The actress behind Cassandra July, the dance instructor we all love to hate, is Kate Hudson. She is the daughter of Hollywood actors Bill Hudson and Goldie Hawn. Although she had been acting in the 90s, her ticket to fame was her portrayal of Penny Lane in Cameron Crowe’s “Almost Famous” in 2000. She won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and was nominated for an Academy Award for the same category.

In 2005, she starred at the thriller “The Skeleton Key,” which grossed more than $91.9 million worldwide. Her romantic comedy movie with Owen Wilson and Matt Dillon entitled “You, Me and Dupree” grossed $21.5 million on its opening weekend in 2006. In 2009, Hudson was critically acclaimed for her unrecognized dancing skills in the star-studded musical film “Nine.” The film featured Nicole Kidman, Daniel Day-Lewis, Penélope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, and Judi Dench.

She also starred in “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” “Raising Helen,” “Something Borrowed,” “Fool’s Gold, and “Bride Wars,” among others.

Bad-boy Jacob “Jake” Puckerman, is Puck’s half-brother. He has an interesting audition for the New Directions when Mr. Schue stops him in the middle of his performance. This causes him to lash out because he had been practicing that song. When he didn’t see his name on the callback list, he crumples the paper into a ball. Mr. Schue later on tells him that his audition was cut short because he thought the young man did great, and that he would be a good addition to the glee club. The adviser persuades the hot head to change his ways.

His admiration for Marley is apparent when he looks at her and talks to her. They subtly flirt with each other and Jake asks her out. When they perform Britney Spears’s Crazy/You Drive Me Crazy, they almost kiss. Marley is saddened to find out that Jake and Cheerio Kitty are dating after all the attention Jake has been showering her. Jake breaks up with the head cheerleader after she makes fun of Marley and her mom.

Jake tries out for the role of Danny Zuko in their school play “Grease,” but loses to Ryder. Making matters worse, Ryder starts flirting with Marley. Ryder and Jake fight over Marley, but it is clear that the young girl likes the bad boy more. The two guys bond after Ryder admits that he has a reading disability and Jake confesses his insecurity about being half black and half white, and also Jewish.

Marley asks Jake to be her date at the Sadie Hawkins dance and he accepts. Marley confesses at the dance that she really likes him but he has to promise to be faithful and take things slow. Jake agrees and they have been going steady ever since.

Actor Bio

Jacob Artist is an up-and-coming actor and singer portraying Jake Puckerman on “Glee.” He is also a trained hip hop, jazz, tap, and ballet competition dancer.

Artist had short appearances in a number of television series before landing a role on “Glee.” In 2011, he started his professional acting career in an episode of Nickelodeon’s “Bucket and Skinner’s Epic Adventures.” He also starred at ABC Family’s “Melissa and Joey,” Nickelodeon’s “How to Rock,” and Lifetime Television’s “Blue Lagoon: The Awakening.”

He made his debut at the big screen on the 2012 film “The Philosophers,” portraying a gay student named Parker. He was cast in the upcoming “White Birds in a Blizzard,” where he will be the love interest of the main character.

For Will Schuester and Emma Pillsbury’s wedding on Valentine’s Day, former and current members of New Directions reunite in Lima. Rachel didn’t bring Brody because he doesn’t want to attend a stranger’s wedding. Finn confesses to her that he impulsively kissed Emma. Rachel advises him not to tell Mr. Schue.

Finn admits to Emma he’s not sure he can do the best man role. Emma tells him to get over it; if he really wants to help, he can keep a wide berth and keep his mouth shut.

Mr. Schue arrives home from Washington, DC, to a warm welcome from the glee club. He gives them an assignment to perform romantic songs at the wedding reception; Finn has to sing instead of give a best man speech.

Marley gives Jake handmade cufflinks for the wedding as an early Valentine’s Day present. Jake is not yet sure what his present for Marley is, no thanks to Puck’s less-than-helpful suggestions. Fortunately, Ryder has a bunch of ideas, so Jake can make it Valentine’s Week instead of just Valentine’s Day. In class, Jake instigates a duet, “You’re All I Need to Get By,” with Marley. Ryder, Sam and Artie help him serenade her.

Emma assigned Artie to play escort to her niece Betty (Ali Stroker from The Glee Project). Betty, however, is acerbic and not thrilled that Artie’s her date. Like him, she’s in a wheelchair. When Jake, Marley and Ryder arrive at the church, peonies (Marley’s favorite flower) are waiting for her at their pew, and Jake scores points again with her because Ryder pays close attention to every detail about Marley.

Kurt and Blaine have a hookup in a car’s backseat in the parking lot; Kurt doesn’t want to call it getting back together. Mercedes interrupts them because the wedding is about to start and she needs her arm gays.

While Emma gets ready for her wedding march, Sue Sylvester surprises her by wearing a gown identical to hers, as revenge for Will letting Finn run the glee club. Emma and Will sing “Getting Married Today” (Mercedes chimes in for the really high soprano parts). Emma then has a panic attack and flees from the church. Flower girl Becky stomps down the aisle, and Sue follows to break the bad news to Will.

Will assumes responsibility for Emma’s cold feet, so Finn feels guiltier. Will also says that since everyone (including Mike) came back, they should all have a good time together, so they have the reception, which is already paid for, while Will tries to find Emma.

At the reception, Brittany and Sam dance with each other while the anti-romantic Santana and Quinn band together. Ryder hands Jake a heart pendant to present to Marley but is put off when Jake says he’s totally getting laid after the success of Valentine’s Week.

Blaine and Kurt sing “Just Can’t Get Enough” in a fun song number. Rachel assures Finn that Emma’s reaction was too extreme to have been simply a result of Finn’s kiss. Artie tries again with Betty and scores a dance with her. Tina angrily tells Kurt she doesn’t approve of how he has been treating Blaine; Kurt accuses her of being creepily in love with Blaine. Sue throws the bride’s bouquet and Rachel catches it, which means she’ll be the next to run from the altar.

Finn tells Rachel only single ladies try to catch the bride’s bouquet, and Rachel’s not single because she cohabitates with Brody. Rachel claims she and Brody aren’t putting labels on their relationship. Finn thinks Rachel’s lying to herself and can’t really commit to Brody because she’s in love with someone else. He and Rachel sing “We’ve Got Tonite,” setting the mood for the hotel hookups later between Finn and Rachel, Kurt and Blaine, Jake and Marley, Artie and Betty, and Quinn and Santana.

Afterward, Blaine wants Kurt to recognize they’re back together, but Kurt stays noncommittal. Quinn tells Santana it was fun but most likely a one-time thing though she doesn’t seem averse to making it a two-time thing. Both Artie and Betty cheerfully admit that neither of them knows whether it was good for them. Marley apologizes for not going through with it, which Jake takes in stride. Rachel slips out of the hotel room while Finn’s asleep. She gets back to New York, where Brody has decorated their apartment for Valentine’s. Neither of them is honest about how they spent the time away from each other.

Tina tells Kurt and Blaine that seeing their chemistry onstage helped her shake off her unrequited love for Blaine; Kurt again downplays his relationship with Blaine. Marley lets Ryder know that she’s aware he played Cyrano for Jake. Ryder impulsively kisses Marley then apologizes, and they both walk away bewildered.

Will is mopey, but Finn encourages him to take action, promising to help find Emma and make things right. New Directions sings “Anything Could Happen” as a group. Rachel takes a pregnancy test and the signs seemingly point to positive.

Character Bio

Brody Weston is Rachel‘s new love interest. A junior at the New York Academy of the Dramatic Arts (NYADA), he makes his first appearance in Season 4’s “The New Rachel.” A shirtless Brody and Rachel first meet in the co-ed bathroom while the two of them are doing their moisturizing rituals. They instantly become close and Brody would offer to rehearse with the newbie.

Even though Finn is still in the picture, Brody and Rachel’s dance practices are often intimate and the chemistry between them is apparent. Brody would defend Rachel from the tough teacher Cassandra July. He frequently showers her with admiring words, telling her how incredible she is as a person and a performer. Rachel invites Brody for dinner and they later on share a kiss.

When Rachel blows him off to see Finn, Brody sleeps with Cassandra. Rachel becomes upset and Brody promises not to do it again. He offers to help prepare for their Thanksgiving party that she and Kurt are throwing. Brody and Rachel officially start going out after the winter showcase when they kiss and hold hands. The young man moves in at Rachel and Kurt’s apartment.

Actor Bio

The almost-always topless Brody Weston is portrayed by South African-Australian singer and actor Dean Geyer. Before his Glee stint, he was already having a great career in Australia and USA both in singing and acting.

In 2006, he finished third in “Australian Idol” Season 4. Within weeks after the season finale, Geyer signed a multiple-album recording contract with Sony BMG Australia. He worked with music producer Greg Wells and co-wrote eight of the thirteen songs in his debut album.

In 2007, Geyer portrayed the role of Ty Harper in the long-running Australian soap opera “Neighbours.” He started his international career in 2010, when he was cast on his debut film “Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown,” a follow-up to the 2008 American film “Never Back Down.” In 2011, he made his television debut in America on VH1’s “Single Ladies.” He also joined Fox Network’s Science Fiction Drama television series “Terra Nova.”
