For the all-important Regionals, New Directions goes head to head with the Dalton Academy Warblers. Sebastian brings Rachel (who’s accompanied by Kurt) an “engagement gift.” It’s an extremely unflattering Photoshop-altered photo of Finn, and Sebastian threatens to spread it on the Internet unless Rachel drops out of the competition within twenty-four hours. He wants a guaranteed Regionals win for Dalton despite McKinley’s home court advantage.

Finn hears about Sebastian’s show-choir terrorism, and he’s ready to give him a beat-down. However, Artie reminds the glee club that even a threat of physical violence could lead to their disqualification.

Blaine also wants to focus on winning Regionals. Because the theme for Regionals is inspiration, he sings Young the Giant’s “Cough Syrup” to Kurt. Meanwhile, Dave Karofsky tries to commit suicide because he has been bullied since he came out as gay. His father finds him before the attempt succeeds, and he survives. Principal Figgins consults with Emma, Mr. Schue, Coach Sue, and Coach Beiste because they need to be careful with how they break the news of Karofsky’s suicide attempt to his former classmates.

Plans change as Karofsky’s tragedy makes certain people realize what’s important to them. Rachel tells Finn at school that she wants to get married immediately. He looks a bit befuddled and replies that he has gym. Rachel and Finn decide to be married by a justice of the peace, after New Directions performs at Regionals.

Sebastian (who had once encountered Karofsky at a club, derided him and told him to just stay in the closet) asks Santana, Brittany, Kurt, and Blaine to meet with him. He apologizes for the photo and tells them the Warblers are raising money for the Born This Way foundation. They are also dedicating their Regionals performance to Karofsky.

At Regionals, the Warblers take the stage with “Stand” by Lenny Kravitz. Sebastian reminds the audience of the effort to raise money for charity. They then display some boy-band dance moves as Sebastian leads them in a performance of “Glad You Came,” by The Wanted. They’re followed by the Golden Goblets, who are from Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrows High School. The madrigal singers give a strong rendition of Eric William Barnum’s choir tune “She Walks in Beauty.” Puck says they’re better than he expected.

Glee s03 e14 On My WayNew Directions comes out with a mash-up of Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and R. Kelly, “Fly / I Believe I Can Fly.” Mercedes  and the rest of the Trouble Tones are up next with an energetic cover of Kelly Clarkson’s “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger).” Rachel rounds out the evening when she sings Halestorm’s “Here’s to Us.” The rest of New Directions joins in, and they win Regionals.

Sue has a change of heart after watching New Directions perform for Regionals, and she tells Will that she wants to help them win Nationals. She also reveals to him that she’s pregnant, and he asks her who the father of the baby is. Sue even allows Quinn to rejoin the Cheerios and admits that she approves of Quinn for all the ways that Quinn is not like her.

Kurt visits Karofsky in the hospital and apologizes for not taking Karofsky’s phone calls. Karofsky forgives him, knowing how Kurt endured his previous bullying. Karofsky wants to take Kurt up on his prior offer for them to be friends. Kurt accepts.

Finn’s parents Carole and Burt along with Rachel’s dads would like to stop their kids’ wedding. Rachel’s dad Hiram is even willing to fake an epileptic seizure so that her other dad Leroy can hijack her to Broadway and stoke her career ambitions. (Incidentally, the actor playing Hiram is Jeff Goldblum, who makes a return to Broadway in Seminar, a comedy. For eight weeks starting April 3, 2012, he assumes the role of the jaded teacher Leonard, which has been played by Alan Rickman.)

Before Rachel’s wedding to Finn, Quinn admonishes Rachel that she’s not going to stand around and watch Rachel ruin her life by marrying Finn. She later relents after she sees Rachel and Finn singing directly to each other during Regionals; she realizes the two of them make each other very happy.

Quinn is one of Rachel’s bridesmaids, and Rachel doesn’t want to start the wedding ceremony without her. On her way to the courthouse for Finn and Rachel’s wedding, Quinn texts while driving, and she presumably gets into a serious car accident.
