Glee Season 3 Episode 13 Heart
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and love is in the air at McKinley High. Will Schuester tasks the New Directions to perform and sing some of the world’s classic love songs in a fundraising bid for hair and makeup supplies. When the glee club members resist, Will hesitantly accepts the cash donated by Sugar.
Sugar is throwing a bash at BreadStix (temporarily renamed the Sugar Shack) on Valentine’s Day, with her dad footing the bill as usual. She has one condition though. Everyone has to bring a date with them, and single people are not allowed to join. For some reason, Artie and Rory start wooing Sugar, vying for her affection. Artie serenades her with Mario’s “Let Me Love You” and seems to impress Sugar, much to Rory’s dismay.
In the choir room, Rory thanks New Directions for being like a second family to him. His request for student visa extension has been denied. He sings Michael Bublé’s “Home,” and affects Sugar’s emotions. In the end, Rory wins over Artie as Sugar asks Rory to be her Valentine date.
Santana gets furious with Principal Figgins for trying to squash public display of affection (PDA) at the campus. He tells Brittany and Santana that his PDA objections apply to everyone, not just to same-sex couples. He adds he is just responding to a religious-based complaint from another student.
Rachel and Finn are surprised by Rachel’s dads, Hiram (Jeff Goldblum) and Leroy (Brian Stokes Mitchell), who serenade them with “Going to the Chapel.” Rachel’s dads are just pretending to be supportive of the couple’s plan, when in fact, they are planning to use reverse psychology to break off the engagement. They invite Finn for a celebratory dinner. The Berry’s sing Cole Porter’s “You’re the Top” before settling in to dinner. Later, Rachel and Finn are shocked when Hiram announces that the party is over and it’s time for the “teenage lovemaking” portion. They’re actually asking Finn to stay for the night.
Before long, Rachel and Finn start arguing about everything, from bathroom practices to future plans in New York City, prompting Finn to storm off. Rachel’s parents’ plan seems to be working and they triumphantly click their champagne glasses as they overhear the argument.
Meanwhile, Sam gives Mercedes a Valentine’s gift but is devastated when Mercedes tells him that she can’t be with him. Mercedes sings “I Will Always Love You,” and Sam, unable to take the heat, walks off.
Kurt, on the other hand, has been getting love letters from a secret admirer, whom he assumes to be Blaine. Someone dressed in a gorilla costume hands Kurt a Gorilla Gram but stays silent when Kurt asks who the admirer really is.
Mercedes welcomes new member Joe Hart (Samuel Larsen) during the school’s “God Squad” meeting. He sports dreadlocks, prefers to be barefooted, plays Christian rock songs, and is tattooed with Scripture quotes. Quinn uncomfortably refers to him as like a teen Jesus. The whole God Squad is trying to determine where they stand on singing love songs to gay people. After careful thinking, Joe decided that love is love and that he is happy to join the group in singing for Brittany a mashup of the song “Cherish.”
Later, Rachel and Finn kiss and make up. Hiram and Leroy realize their plans are falling apart when Finn and Rachel still plan to tie the knot come May, right after nationals.
Kurt eventually discovers his secret admirer, and it turns out that it’s not Blaine but Dave Karofsky. Kurt tells him they can’t be a couple as he is with Blaine. As Dave begins to leave, they are spotted by a student from his new school, who figures out what just transpired between the two. Embarrassed, Dave leaves in a hurry.
At the party, after telling Rory that she’ll miss him when he leaves, Sugar introduces to everyone the surprise appearance of Blaine, who is wearing a heart-shaped eye patch. Blaine sings “Love Shack” with Mercedes and the God Squad, and is eventually joined by Kurt as well.
