Jane Lynch to Host 2011 Emmy Awards
Glee’s Jane Lynch has been chosen to host this year’s Emmy’s.
John Shaffner, chairman and CEO, Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, is quoted as saying “When our host has comedic, dramatic, and musical talents as Jane has proved in last year’s opening number, we know it’s going to be fun for us and for the audience at home.” He expressed how delighted they are to have the Emmy-winning actress do this hosting stint for them.
According to Mark Burnett, who will be producing the Emmy’s for the first time, Lynch was his “first and only choice” to play the all important part of the host. He also told the press how happy he was when Lynch said yes. Burnett is also cited as saying that Lynch “has incredible comedic timing, and is a charismatic, talented actress whose energy leaps off the screen and stage.”
Emmy nominations will be announced on July 14, 2011, at 5:40 a.m. PT. This glamorous event will take place at LA Live’s Nokia theater in Los Angeles and will be telecast on Fox, on September 18, 2011.
Along with Angela Lansbury and Ellen DeGeneres, Lynch is only the third woman to ever host the Primetime Emmy’s alone. Lynch replaces Jimmy Fallon in this year’s hosting spot. According to opinions circulation over the wires, Lynch would make a better host than Ryan Seacrest.
Indeed, Lynch seems like the perfect choice for a Emmy host. Let’s just hope Sue Sylvester doesn’t show up.
