Get ready to shed a tear or two as Glee pays tribute to the legendary Whitney Houston this week. It is not yet the season finale but it has been confirmed that the 17th episode of the third season entitled “Dance with Somebody” is pretty emotional. “This episode is definitely a sad one
“ Lea Michele tweeted on April 19, 2012. Unlike the Michael Jackson and Madonna tributes, this episode focuses more on each member’s present feelings using Houston’s touching songs.
We all hate goodbyes! As the end of the school year draws near, the New Directions struggles to accept the fact that some of the members will be leaving soon. Letting go will definitely be hard for them because they are more than a glee club; they are a family. They have been there for each other during the happy and sad times. To somehow help them deal with their feelings of imminent loss, Mr. Schue assigns his members to perform Whitney Houston’s emotionally charged songs.
Everybody is getting emotional, including bad-boy Puck bonding with the guys and giving them a mushy good-bye speech. A big shocker is Santana telling Rachel that she will sort of miss her. Mr. Schue is also trying to cope with the sad truth that some of his beloved members are graduating. His glee kids have indeed changed his life. He tells Emma that he could not wait for their wedding, which is why he wants it to happen in May. Will Emma say yes?
We all know that Kurt plans to attend the New York Academy of the Dramatic Arts (NYADA). While the people around him could not be any prouder, they find it difficult to accept that he is leaving home. Burt tells his son that he does not want him to go.
What will happen to Kurt’s relationship with Blaine? Is the former really ready to choose his dream over his boyfriend? Kurt’s odd behavior threatens their relationship. Emma tells them they need to attend couple’s counseling sessions. “Klaine” fans are getting worried about the possible breakup of their favorite duo. In an interview with Billboard Magazine, Darren Criss talks about the Kurt-Blaine relationship: “The only worry we should really have is that Kurt is leaving soon, and that yields a bit of contention.” “When there’s a pending departure of someone in a relationship, there’s tension and worry on a basest level. So there’s certainly that,” he added.
Photo teasers on the Internet show Blaine at a desk similar to the one in Houston’s video for “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay.” This song certainly pertains to relationship issues; so does this mean Blaine will just let Kurt go that easily? Criss did not confirm or deny the similarity. “If that’s out there in the world I’m sure people are figuring it out, but I have not seen that picture,” the young actor said. Blaine is not the only one who has a song for his boyfriend. Kurt will also be singing a Houston song for his guy. On March 15, 2012, Michele tweeted this: “It would only be fitting for Kurt to be singing a love song to Blaine today:) @chriscolfer @DarrenCriss congrats! #1yearofKlaine.” What Houston song will Kurt dedicate to his boyfriend?
Santana and Brittany will be performing a duet of the song “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me).” On March 12, 2012, Naya tweeted, “Just finished a dance rehearsal for an awesome Brit Santana duet!” Besides the up-beat number with Brittany, Santana will be joining Rachel, Mercedes and Kurt in performing a touching a capella version of Houston’s classic “How Will I Know.”
We still don’t know if Quinn will be singing in this episode. After her car accident, she is currently at her lowest point. She definitely needs someone to lift her spirits. Could this someone be the cool dude with dread locks? Rumor has it that Quinn and Joe will be having a bed scene (it’s not what you think!). It is not going to be a steamy one as it may just be in a physical therapist’s office, where Joe tries to help the young girl get up. Will the two get into a romantic relationship? Why would Joe accompany Quinn in the first place? Let’s see if the two will end up together.
It has been reported that this episode will feature seven Houston hits. Other songs featured are “I Have Nothing,” “My Love is Your Love,” “Saving All My Love for You,” and “So Emotional.”
There are a lot of unanswered questions so don’t dare miss Glee’s episode tribute to Whitney Houston on April 24, 2012.
